With excitement, we will welcome Dr. Chuck Poole to our Vestavia Hills Baptist Church pulpit on July 30 while Eric is on vacation.  Chuck is a sought-after preacher and theologian.  He and his wife, Marcia, joined our church earlier in 2023 after moving to Birmingham to be near their daughter Maria Madden and her family.   

Chuck recently retired from a forty-five-year pastoral life, during which he served congregations in Georgia, North Carolina, Washington, DC and Jackson, Mississippi.

The author of eight books, numerous published articles, and the lyrics to three hymns, Chuck has served the wider community as an advocate for interfaith welcome, as a friend to the immigrant community, and as a "minister on the street" in the Mid-City neighborhood of Jackson. 

Chuck and Marcia have two adult children and ten grandchildren.
