Lenten Tuesday series continues March 21 and April 4

VHBC brings you Lenten Tuesday Worship & Lunch series once again with four messages on Jesus interacting with people on the level of their specific need - fear, forgiveness, economic anxiety, broken families. Join us at 12 Noon on April 4 for the final message in The Journey to Wholeness: Jesus and the Suffering World. Each week's inspirational message is followed by lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Menus range from a full, hot meal to soup/salad/sandwich, with dessert. Cost is just $3, payable at the door after the speaker concludes. No reservation needed. Dedicate time during your week for Tuesday Lenten Worship and Lunch.

March 7, Ken Roxburgh, "Jesus and Fear"

Ken Roxburgh is a professor Religion at Samford University, and pastor for preaching and teaching at Southside Baptist Church in Birmingham. He is married with two adult children who live in Scotland. He has two grand-daughters and two grand-sons. He enjoys reading, cooking and supporting Glasgow Rangers football club (proper football!)

March 14, Fisher Humphreys, "Jesus and Forgiveness"

Fisher Humphreys is Professor of Divinity at the Beeson School of Divinity of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He and his wife Caroline Toler Humphreys have two children and two granddaughters. Dr. Humphreys is the author of eight books. He has contributed articles and reviews to various journals and has written lessons for use in Sunday School and in other settings.

March 21, Greg Powell, "Jesus and Economic Anxiety"

Greg Powell is President and Chief Executive Officer of Fi-Plan Partners, LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama and has over thirty years of experience in the financial industry. He is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and the National Board of Directors for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and is former Chairman of the NFIB of Alabama. Actively involved with Samford University, he is on the Board of Overseers, a member and former Chairman of the university’s Brock School of Business Advisory Board and currently serves on the Samford Athletic Executive Committee. Greg and his wife Peggy live in Hoover, Alabama and have three daughters, who he says are some of his best teachers.

April 4, Rod Marshall, "Jesus and the Broken Family"

Rod Marshall has served as the president and CEO of Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries since 2012.  Rod came to ABCH in 1995.  He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and helped to build Pathways Professional Counseling, the counseling ministry of ABCH from the ground up.  Rod is a graduate of Samford University and of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  He has done post-graduate study at Mississippi State University and at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently pursuing his Ph. D. from Regent University.  Rod and his wife Leslie are the proud parents of two young adults. 

NOTE that the week of spring break is not scheduled (March 28).
